The Livability London Marathon runner fuelled by K-Pop
Mark Hassall, from Liverpool, is running the London Marathon this year in aid of Livability and his inspiration comes from a slightly unusual place…
He has run for Livability before at the Rabbit Run (happening this year on April 4th) and achieved a superb 6th place finish, and has risen to the challenge of the London Marathon this year.
He has given the Marathon a good go in the past but has always been hit by last minute injuries. ‘I’ve always ended up tweaking something so I end up having to nurse an injury or a niggle around the race. This year I’m taking it a little bit easier!’
The bulk of Mark’s energy, however, seems not to have come from the training but from the emerging sensation that is K-Pop, or Korean pop music for the uninitiated.
‘For some reason I have gotten a bit of a taste for Korean pop music on the runs now,’ says Mark, ‘I have no idea what they are saying, but it’s nice and upbeat. Dancing at traffic lights is good fun too.’ So if you do happen to see a man hopping and flapping frantically at some traffic lights, just give him a pat on the back and leave him to it.
As if that’s not incentive enough to support Mark, if he reaches his fundraising target he has pledged to don the cape and boots and dress as Wonder Woman – shaved legs and all! Click here to support Mark.
