Livability partners with Parallel London – the world’s first fully inclusive fun push/run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Livability will be a proud supporter and platinum charity partner of Parallel London – the world’s first fully inclusive fun push/run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Held this September 4th, the ground-breaking event is all about mass participation and bulldozing barriers to inclusion. Everyone and anyone can enter Parallel London – disabled, and non-disabled, beginner and pro. There’s an event for everyone – from 100m, 1km, 5km, to 10km – the choices are endless and the emphasis is absolutely on fun and participation.
The day will also include a free family festival, showcasing the very best accessible attractions and entertainment across technology, art and culture, food and drink, health and fitness and much more.
Livability has charity places available for people that would like to run and take their place at a ground-breaking event in an iconic sporting venue. The charity is also running a Community and Enterprise Zone at the festival on the day to help people explore the role we all play in making communtiies truly livable.
Adam Bonner, Executive Director for Public Engagement said:
“As a charity that exists to tackle barriers in society and work for inclusion in community life, we’re so excited to be part of this dynamic and historic event. We passionately believe that thriving and healthy communities are where ‘everyone’s in’ – taking their part, bringing their stories, voices and experiences. As an all-inclusive event, Parallel London will be a wonderful opportunity to bulldoze barriers and celebrate the diversity and strengths of each person.”
Livability’s 100 for £100 challenge – Charity place for the first 100 people
Livability has launched a special challenge for people that would like to support the charity and are making 100 free charity places available at the event. The only requirement is that participants raise £100 (or more!) for Livability. Participants just need to obtain a charity code from Livability.
Lisa Hemsley, Assistant Director for Fundraising said:
“We really want people to take up our 100 for £100 challenge. The money our supporters raise will help Livability deliver disability services that enable the people we support to become better connected within their community. It will also support Livability to equip communities to work together and reach out to isolated and excluded people.”
In support of Livability at Parallel London
Andrew Douglass, Director for Innovision said:
“We’re proud to have Livability as our platinum charity partner. Livability is a charity that believes in the power of community and participation to overcome isolation. Too many people in our society face unnecessary barriers in their lives – and disabled people are often hardest hit. We are really excited about Livability joining Parallel London in its inaugural year and the potential of what we can achieve together.”
Lord Shaftesbury, Parallel Ambassador and Friend to Livability said:
“Livability is a charity with a rich heritage of disability provision social inclusion and community work. Our shared roots trace back to the courageous and pioneering social responses of those who have gone before. I know Livability is a charity that places the needs and aspirations of the people it supports front and centre of all its innovative work today. I look forward to Parallel London and encourage people to get behind Livability’s cause and this event.”[cs_row style=”margin: 0px auto; padding: 0px; ” inner_container=”true”][cs_column style=”padding: 0px; ” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″][x_gap size=”15px”][x_prompt type=”left” title=”How can I take part?” message=”For full information on how you can book a place, visit our Parallel London page” button_text=”Click here to find out more about Parallel London” button_icon=”lightbulb-o” circle=”false” href=”http://www.abilitysunday.org.uk/Parallel” href_title=”” target=””][/cs_column][/cs_row]
