Meet the Brazilian running team joining Livability for the London Marathon
The Livability community reaches far and wide, and we’re delighted that this April, we’re welcoming a team who are flying nearly 6,000 miles to run the Virgin London Marathon in support of Livability. Team leader Caio tells us more.
Where are you flying in from?
Brazil – and it’s our first trip to London. We’re a big team, and our wives and kids are coming too. We’ll arrive from 19 April, ready for the big day on April 22.
Why are you running for Livability?
We chose Livability because my sister is disabled and you support many people like her.
How’s training going?
Our group trains together every day from 6:15am in Ibirapuera Park, São Paulo. We’re committed to training hard, to never give up and to inspire each other. On Saturdays we do a long run and get together afterwards to review the week and have fun too!
What are your hopes for the run?
I’m training to do my personal best – I came in at 2:56 hours at the last New York Marathon. All of us are training hard and aiming for times between 2:58 and 3:10. The team is very fast.
How are you all feeling?
This is a very, very, very special marathon for us! We are so happy and excited to run and be in London. One of our friends will receive the Six Star Finisher Medal [for running top marathons in six designated cities]. If I complete London and then Tokyo, I hope to gain this medal too.
