New CEO announced – Helen England will be Livability’s new CEO from April 2018

Livability has made a new CEO appointment at the charity. Helen England, currently Director of Strategy, Organisational Development and Workforce at Devon Partnership NHS Trust, will be the charity’s next CEO. Helen will succeed Dave Webber, who retires as CEO from Livability in May, following six years in the role and a total of fifteen years with the charity.

Helen England – a career in health and social care

Helen’s career began as a music therapist and she worked in both the education and care sectors before joining the NHS. For the last decade Helen has worked at an executive level in commissioning and provider organisations.

Currently working with Devon Partnership NHS Trust, she is also a trustee with the disability charity United Response, a UK charity that provides personalised care and support to people with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism and physical disabilities to take control of their lives.

Helen combines strong leadership and business experience with a passionate personal commitment to enabling people and organisations to reach their potential.

About her appointment, Helen says:

‘I am excited to be taking up the CEO role at Livability, a charity with such a great story. I’m inspired by its compassionate Christian ethos and its values driven and community minded strategy; tackling isolation, delivering disability services across the UK and working for more connected and livable communities. Together and with the people that use Livability’s services; its staff; supporters and partners, I look forward to working with the charity to achieve real and lasting change.’

Of Helen’s appointment, Dave Webber, current CEO said:

‘We are delighted to make the announcement of Helen’s appointment. We know that community responses to care and health are now such a major part of health provision in the UK and Helen brings great expertise in this regard. Like other charities, we’re also operating in a climate where funding for care provision is increasingly under pressure. Helen’s business and strategic acumen will bring new drive and impetus at this exciting time in our charity’s journey.’

Caroline Armitage, Chair of Trustees of Livability, said:

‘Helen was the clear and obvious choice for the charity at this exciting time. Her breadth of leadership experience, obvious and proven care for people and her evident connection to our ethos and values shone through the recruitment process. Our panel of staff, the people we support and trustees were unanimous in their decision to appoint her to this important role and we are all very much looking forward to working with Helen from April. We also recognise and value the unique leadership contribution and service that Dave Webber has brought to our charity and the people that we support.’

Helen will conclude her role with Devon Partnerships NHS Trust in March and takes up her position with Livability as CEO Designate on 10th April 2018.
