Livability’s work with churches over the years

Building on our 170 year heritage from the work of The Shaftesbury Society and John Grooms, Livability has a strong track record of church and community work that’s seen us:

  • Train a wide range of community leaders in The Happiness Course – equipping them to grow wellbeing and develop tools to reach out to the local community.
  • Create Dementia Inclusive Church resources in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society and trained churches across the UK in dementia awareness.
  • Launched ‘More Than Welcome’ – a training tool to resource churches create a place of welcome and participation for disabled people.
  • Run ‘Ability Sunday’ – an annual event that calls churches to celebrate the gifts of disabled people and create a place of welcome for all.
  • Raise awareness for mental health in churches, through our involvement in the Mental Health Partnership and helped to create the Mental Health Access Pack.
